Richard Valtr
Founder of Mews
Richard Valtr is an entrepreneur and former hotelier with extensive experience in hotel development and management.
After studying philosophy at UCL in London and working in the film industry, he returned to his native Czech Republic, where he became a project manager for several development projects. These culminated in the construction of the Emblem Hotel in Prague. The idea to create Mews came when Richard was looking for an optimal technological solution to facilitate the management of reservations, check-ins, and other operational matters at this newly established luxury hotel in the center of Prague.
The Mews system, created to automate manual processes and facilitate communication between guest and host (receptionist), was first tested at Hotel Emblem and subsequently rolled out to the first hotels in the Czech Republic. Since 2012, the project has grown into a successful startup that now operates in 85 countries, has offices in major European and world cities (including London, Amsterdam, Paris, Sydney, New York) and employs over 1,000 people.
